Experimental investigation of the influence of grain size distribution and sediment disposition on local scour around bridge pier
This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the influence of the sediment grain-size distribution and disposition on local scour around a circular bridge pier. The aim of this study is to evaluate experimentally in a qualitative way the influence of various factors on the local scour and in particular the grain size distribution of sediment and its disposition in an open channel flow. Four different factors were tested in this study, flow rate, channel slope, grain size distribution and disposition of the sediment.
