Effect Of Subpipes On Performance Of Water Nozzle

This paper presents the numerical analysis of the flow inside a water nozzle for fire fighting and observe the effect of the variation in primary components on the internal flow. In this study, the water nozzle being developed was modelled, the boundary conditions obtained from the experiments were applied, and the governing equations were calculated to obtain velocity, pressure inside the nozzle. This study considered two main parameters (the number and length of sub-pipes) with the aim to observe the detail flow characteristics. It was found that the base model was not significant on flow characteristics, but a negative effect(i. e. the reverse flow) at the entrance of sub-pipe. On the other hand, the reverse flow was vanished when making the length of sub-pipe double.
