The Development And Testing Of Wind Tunnel Arduino Based System (windtabs)

In this study, a wind tunnel with Arduino based system is developed. Arduino that has less wiring is used as a controller for the wind tunnel and it is expected to provide a more accurate reading. The load cell has been used a sensor that acts as an input to the Arduino. The sensor is limited to sense weight up to 24kg, while the use of the servo motor is to control the movement of test specimen which is limited angle between +100 to -100. The result of the functional testing of the Arduino based wind tunnel is compared to the National Advisory Committee for Aerodynamics (NACA) 0009 database and the OPLC calibrated wind tunnel as well. The results showed that Arduino based system wind tunnel has been proven reliable as the data obtained from the testing is 31% and 36% difference in average compared to OPLC system and NACA database airspeed of 13 m/s and 27 m/s respectively.
