The Reliability of Attitude/Motivation Test Battery (AMTB) in Iran as an EFL Context

To determine whether integrative motivation exists in EFL contexts like ESL ones, the present study examined the generalizability of the Gardner's socio-educational model to Iranian context. To see the link between motivation as examined or discussed in other subject fields than L2 and motivation as explained in previous L2 researches, and lastly to see the obvious implications that such previous L2 studies have for language pedagogy Gardner proposed his model of second-foreign language learning in 2001, maintaining that the model is capable of organizing the main concepts seem to be included in L2 learning motivation. Gardner himself used the AMTB in four EFL contexts, e.g., Croatia, Poland, Spain, and Romania and obtained similar results as the Canadian ESL context. In this study the reliability and the correlation coefficients between the subscales of the AMTB and the total scores were analyzed.
