Numerical Simulation On Mitigation And Adaptation Effects To Urban Heat Island Countermeasure Using Retro Reflection Material As Building Exterior Wall

Recently, heat island phenomenon becomes remarkable with the expansion of urban area. It is recommended that the urban surface is covered with the highly reflective materials such as painted layers and film materials as one of the countermeasures for mitigation. The validity is confirmed in a roof surface and a road side, and the technique certification for the material is performed in some previous studies [1, 2]. On the other hand, so far it is refrained because the adaptation to the wall surface of this technique leads to aggravation of the thermal comfort of the street space and increase of the thermal load to other building wall surfaces. In order to decrease the thermal load from a wall surface to the atmosphere and mitigate the effect of solar reflection to street space, it is necessary not only to raise the reflectance on the wall surface but also to apply the materials with retro-reflection property [3] that can reflect the solar radiation in the incidence direction. In this study, it is assumed that retro-reflective wall materials are constructed for a wall surface, and the thermal influence to human body near the wall surface affected by solar reflection characteristics, especially reflection directivity is numerically evaluated.
