Nanoparticle Addition As An Alternative Method For Quality Improvement Of Silk Dyeing Effluent Discharge

The alternative method by nanoparticle addition for the effluent discharge remediation from silk dyeing process aimed to investigate the application and comparison of nanoscale Zero Valent Iron (nZVI), nanoscale Zinc Oxide (nZnO), normal scale Zero Valent Iron (ZVI), and normal scale Zinc Oxide (ZnO) in terms of wastewater quality improvement by operating in the wastewater treatment reactor. The overall results found that the quality of the effluent after treatment showed better quality. After treatments by nanoparticles, it found that lead, chromium, cadmium, pH, the total suspended solids, the total dissolved solids and COD were decreased and met the effluent quality standards. BOD was also decreased but they are still higher than the effluent quality standard limits. This study indicated that wastewater treatment by nZVI provided the highest efficiency followed by nZnO, ZVI and ZnO, respectively.
