Alternative Treatment of Used Bleaching Earth Cake Ash as Cement Replacemet at Concrete Mixture
|
|
“Used Bleaching Earth Cake Ash (UBECA)†is the grinded bottom ash from bleaching earth which has been used and filter pressed from the lubricant oil recycling industry and combusted to utilize its calorific value in compressed air furnace with >1300°C operation temperature. Comprehensive treatment required to treat UBECA as hazardous waste. This research tested the physical and chemical characteristics of UBECA to acknowledge its potential as cement replacement in concrete K350 production, compressive strength and Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) was analyzed. UBECA consists of Christobalite beta high 35.08%, Christobalite low 23.55%, Mullite 34.69% and Sekaninaite 6.67%. The average compressive strength result by replacing cement with 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% and 50% of its ashes were 32.98 Mpa, 31.40 MPa, 27.26 MPa, 25.55 MPa, 24.5 MPa, and 24.12 MPa, respectively. The highest compressive strength was at 10% of replacement. TCLP results still meet the standard. Overall, UBECA can be safely use as replacement for fine aggregates in concrete K350 production.
