Analysis Behaviour Of Low Carbon Thin Laser Welding On Mechanical Properties Effect Different Arc Current

The thin Low carbon steel is wedly used for furniture product. The joints of thin low carbon steel used arc welding have problem with not good look in joints area caused of uneven joint area. This problem can be solved by using laser welding because the resulting energy focus and heat area around welding area is minimal. The parameters that are important in using laser welding is the arc current. This study examined the joint of low carbon steel using laser welding. The result of joining process with variation arc current tested by tensile strength and observation structure micro using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Tensile test result on the arc current variable 410-440 ampere obtained fracture on the out area of welding. In the result of the SEM, it is seen that welding area at weld metal exactly microstructure change to hard phase caused of welding process. The high heat input and the high cooling rate of welding process change microstructure to hard phase. The Microstructure in hard phase region have good tensile strength than other region.
