New Spectrophotometric Determination Of Zn (ii) In Some Plants And Pharmaceutical Samples In Presence Of Surfactant.

A highly simple, rapid and accurate spectrophotometric method is described for determination of zinc (II) using 2-[(4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl) diazenyl]-4-methylphenol (TDMP) in presence of Triton X-100 as a surfactant. It is observed that (TDMP) formed red coloured complex with Zn (II) at 520 nm. Zn (II) reacts with Ligand in slightly alkaline medium at pH = 8 using borate buffer solution to form a 1:3 stable complex. The effect of time, temperature and interfering ions are studied. The complex is instantaneously formed and remains stable over 2 hours. Beers law is obeyed in the range of (10-35µg ml-1) with molar absorptivity to be 13.03×103 l mol-1cm-1. The proposed method is successfully applied for zinc determination in some plants and pharmaceutical samples.
