Production Of Fluid Gas Desulphurization Wastes As A Composite Filler

Flue gas desulphurization (FGD) is very important issue because of contains SO2. Especially in coal power plants Sulphur compounds in coal leads directly to SO2 formation. It is hazardous toxic material and need to eliminate. Number of researches of desulphurization methods still going on such as Adsorptive desulphurization, Extractive desulphurization, Oxidative desulphurization, Hydro desulphurization, Biodesulphurization and so on. One of the common method is adsorption of SO2 via caustic lime Ca(OH)2, and final products calls as a gypsum. In this study recycled post consumer plastics used as binder and FGD waste used as a filler material. Plastic material analyzed for non-challenge inspection via FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy -Thermo Scientific / Nicolet IS50) and DSC (Differantial Scanning Calorimetry- Mettler – Toledo / DSC 1 / 700). Recycled polymer and gypsum mixed via Brabender / W50 EHT + Plastograph EC Plus and prepared proper type mould with Haake mini injection molding. Fusion time, stability and total torque were recorded during progress. Shore hardness of composite also measured according to ASTM D2240. Shore tests were carried out using a Mitutoyo 332 hardmatic hardness tester. Finally LOI (Limit oxygen index) and morphological analysis via FEI / Quanta 450 FEG Scanning Electron Microscopy show that FGD waste and plastic waste useful as filler material especially for aluminum composite panel.
