The Role Of Nutrition In The Prevention Of Drug Addiction

Abstract Objectives: addiction in our country has been increasing in recent years. To prevent abuse, you should first identify the factors contributing to the trend. Material and Methods: In this review study, the key word addiction, prevention and nutrition at Medline,Web of Science and Google Scholar we searched. Results: Results of studies on the causes of drug abuse tend to show that an important factor in patients with psychological problems and depression. However, nutritional deficiencies play a role in causing depression and mental disorders is undeniable and many studies have shown that micronutrient deficiencies such as vitamin E, selenium, magnesium, tryptophan, omega 3 and mental disorders are strongly related to the prevalence of depression. Adequate intake of antioxidants helps protect the body against environmental stress and amino acid called tryptophan, the precursor of serotonin, a substance that is known as the hormone of happiness. Conclusions: Overall it can be concluded that one of the most effective ways to prevent substance abuse adequate intake of Nutrient which influence on the mood and psychological characteristics of individuals.
