Online Shopping Behaviour Among College Students In Tamilnadu, India

Internet is an important facilitator for human and human use this medium almost every phase. Humans’ in everyday life has been influenced by information and communication technologies (ICT) considerably. Internet has opened new opportunities such as information sharing about products and services. Today internet is the only network media as a means of transactions for consumers at Global interwork. Vendor and suppliers have given more importance to constitute a website and promote themselves over internet. By this the company can increase its recognition and try to reach more consumers. The company can add information as and when needed. Internet shopping has paved the way for the consumer to purchase new products over internet electronically. The consumers can purchase products through the information displayed in the internet or can hear to other consumers comments over internet shopping sites. Internet shopping has been an issue of great importance for college students and it has also created positive implication among the students as it saves time and money. Consumers have different personalities, which may influence their perception and how they perceive the online shopping behaviors. It is important to recognize the numerous factors that precede the attitude formation and change. It is found that college student encounter some special problem regarding online purchase. Therefore this study is taken in that direction to see what are the major problems that are faced by college students in online shopping and see whether gender has any impact on online purchase. The primary data has been collected from 110 college students studying in colleges at Tamilnadu by using structured questionnaire and pretested questionnaire. Convenience sampling technique has been adopted for the selection of 110 respondents. The factors that influence the college students to shop through internet are ease and convenience in shopping, availability of 24*7 access, time consideration, variety of products, acceptance of credit card, security in purchase and satisfaction of internet shopping. Some factors also creates problems in online shopping. All these factors were taken into consideration and studied. Keywords : College Students, Gender, Internet , Online Purchase, Shopping
