Studying Effects Of Seed Different Moisture At Hand Picking On Seed Germination Maize (zea Mays L.) Variety Hybrid S.c 704.

A research work was conducted to study the effects of Maize seed different moisture contents at harvesting time on seed germination and related traits. The research was carried out in 2014-2015on randomized complete block in four replications and different seed moisture contents i.e. 26-28, 28-30, 30-32, 32-34 percentage. This research work implemented at Moqan Agriculture industrial company in Northern Iran. The result showed that seed vigor, Seed germination and related traits in germination (except daily germination speed) significantly affected by different seed moisture content at harvesting time. Seed germination percentage and seed vigor at harvesting time with moisture content 28-30% was highest. With increasing moisture content, seed germination, seed vigor and other related traits decreased significantly. The result further showed that minimum moisture content at harvesting time must not be exceeded 28%.In this research optimum moisture content by hand picking of Maize crop must not exceed 26-28 percentage for the best germination. Key words: seed moisture content, harvesting time, germination, maize
