Geotechnical Characterization Of Chellah’s Fondation Soil - Historical Monument Of Rabat.

The monument of Chellah is a historical monument of universal archaeological value, in fact this monument was named "heritage in sharing" in 2012 by UNESCO. This monument requires a restoration intervention in order to save its historical value, for this geological recognition and a geotechnical characterization of the foundation soil of it finds its place. The geological recognition undergoing mechanical drilling has shown that the soil formations are generally made up of sandy clay, gravel with sandy clay matrix, embankment and riprap. As mechanical drill holes are drilled, specimens, which will be explained in detail in the location and the mechanical and physical characterization, have been identified and subjected to various geotechnical tests. This identification shows that the soil has a moderately sensitive character to water. In this work we will explain the different processes and results obtained for the realization of this studies.
