Effects Of Micro-credit And Human Resource Development (HRD) Activities On Socio-economic Empowerment Of Women Through Livestock Production: A Case Study Of Akrsp In Northern Areas Of Pakistan

The present study was conducted to analyze the impact of agricultural interventions of Agha Khan Rural Supports Program (AKRSP) on livestock production in Gilgit-Baltistan. A sample of 1200 respondents were selected by simple random sampling technique and the results were analyzed through paired t-test. The research concludes that micro-credit and HRD activities had positive effect on livestock. Number of livestock has increased with the passage of time because people of respected area applied training in their respective fields which in turn has changed their economic conditions in a positive way. In this way the income of beneficiaries increased from Rs. 5661 in year 2000 to Rs. 9703 in year 2011. Although this increase in income was not very significant because there are some other variables which affected the economic situation of respondents like inflation, political instability and natural hazards.
