Strategic Planning Of Water Demand And Supply Based On Sustainable Development Concept In Arid Areas

The presented research reports strategic planning of water resources in an arid area based on Sustainable Development Concept (SDC). Three Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) models including Simple Additive Weighting (SAW), Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) were used for in detail ranking of the strategies and evaluating the result of Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM). The results of MCDM models were not same, so we used combination approaches including Mean Rank, Borda Count and Copeland's methods to integrate rankings. The outcomes of sensitivity analysis revealed that all MCDM models were sensitive to the social and environmental criteria. SAW and AHP models were also less sensitive to altering in criteria weights than TOPSIS model. The results of MCDMs models showed the priority of MCDM models to QSPM analysis in incorporating SDC to in detailed evaluation of the strategies.
